Carbon Reduction Plan

Picterra's Carbon Reduction Plan

Picterra is committed to be engaged in the global transition we want to see out there at regional, national and global scale. At our level, we are first in the process of assessing our footprint and set reduction targets that are realistic and in line with what is required to have a real impact. Reducing our carbon footprint is an ongoing journey, so we will regularly review and update our plan as we go and as new technologies and best practices emerge to further reduce our environmental impact.

Here are the 8 elements of our plan that we will put in practice:

Assess Current Carbon Footprint:

  • Calculate the carbon footprint of our company's operations, including office energy consumption, employee commuting, business travel, and data center emissions related to our cloud-based software.
  • Use reputable carbon footprint calculators or work with sustainability consultants to obtain accurate data.

Set Emission Reduction Targets:

  • Determine ambitious but achievable targets for reducing our company's carbon emissions.
  • Consider aligning our targets with international standards, such as the Science-Based Targets initiative, which aims to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius (Science Based Targets).

Energy Efficiency and Office Practices:

  • Implement energy-efficient practices in the Lausanne office, such as using LED lighting, optimizing heating and cooling systems, and encouraging employees to turn off electronics when not in use.
  • Promote a culture of sustainability, including reducing paper usage, promoting recycling, and minimizing food waste in the Lausanne office.

Remote Work and Commuting:

  • Encourage remote work and flexible schedules to reduce commuting emissions.
  • Provide necessary tools and support for effective remote work, such as video conferencing and collaboration software, to minimize the need for business travel.

Business Travel:

  • Encourage the use of low-carbon transportation options for business travel, such as trains instead of planes for short distances.
  • Utilize video conferencing and online collaboration tools to minimize the need for travel whenever possible.

Offsetting Carbon Emissions:

  • Collaborate with reputable carbon offset providers to invest in high-quality projects that help neutralize our remaining emissions.
  • Communicate our offsetting initiatives transparently to employees, clients, and stakeholders to demonstrate our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.

Employee Engagement and Education:

  • Raise awareness among our employees about the importance of carbon reduction and sustainability.
  • Provide training and resources to empower our employees to adopt sustainable practices both at work and in their personal lives.

Continuous Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Regularly track and monitor our company's carbon emissions to evaluate progress towards our reduction targets.
  • Develop transparent reporting mechanisms to communicate our progress to stakeholders, including employees, investors, and customers.
